Notice Board/Events (Open to All) / Findhorn Watershed Initiative
« Last post by Tez on January 17, 2024, 09:19:15 am »
Last night we were joined by Eve Mosher from Findhorn Bay Arts who briefed us on the Findhorn Watershed Initiative, who she is working alongside to engage with the communities along the river.

She’s putting together a programme which involves a huge map of the river’s catchment area and is looking for pieces of writing to add to her work/display etc. She thought we might be interested. Those who were present on Tuesday evening seemed to be enthusiastic about her visit and the opportunity to possibly have their work showcased in this way. This is an opportunity for everyone, not just those present on the night.

Eve was interested to know if anyone in the group would be interested in writing something using the River Findhorn (and its watershed) as a prompt. She went on to explain that she is planning some events in the new year at several small halls in the area and she also said that if there is enough interest her group may do a small printing of the writings to share at these events as well as possibly find some time to do some readings from the works.

If you have any writing that you think ‘may fit the bill’ she would be glad to receive it. She’s looking for writing in any genre, story, poem, factual article, historical, environmental etc. that is concerned with any part of the River Findhorn and it’s water catchment area.

Please don’t send pieces of work to forWORDS. Eve asks for those interested to send their work to her at eve@findhornbayarts.com

To help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Forres House we've posted eighteen pieces of creative writing around the building as a writing trail. They're in no particular order and you'll find the randomly dotted about including the library.

Thanks to all the members that contributed work.

Notice Board/Events (Open to All) / Meeting of Tuesday 29th August, 2023
« Last post by Andy on August 23, 2023, 11:53:57 am »
Tuesday's meet-up will be our final informal summer get-together. For those who wish to come along, this will be at 7:00pm on Tuesday 29th August (meeting outside the Library/Community Centre as usual). We do not intend to be outside for this meeting.
The agreed activity will be to discuss and work on character development. With that in mind it would be helpful if you could bring along some photographs of characters/people you find interesting. These photographs should not be of well-known personalities. You could clip from magazine adverts etc. or print from the internet. If most folk can manage to bring three or four photographs that should give us a good selection to work with. If you can't manage to bring any, that's okay. I'm sure we'll end up with more than we'll need. Please also bring along a notebook or some paper and a pen/pencil.

Notice Board/Events (Open to All) / Meeting on Tuesday 22nd August, 2023.
« Last post by Andy on August 18, 2023, 05:13:22 pm »
Normal, more organised, indoor meetings will resume in the first week of September. We're still having our informal/outside summer meetings. For those who wish to come along, this week our informal meeting is on Tuesday 22nd August.  This involves meeting up outside the community centre/library at 7:00pm. We decided (last week) that folk should give some thought to what they’d like to do and bring their suggestions with them. We will make a decision about what to do, once we see who turns up and what the suggestions are. It would be great if any non-members interested in joining our group could manage to come along too. I’m sure everyone would be pleased to see you. It would be easier to explain in person, what we do at our meetings and answer any questions you may have about membership etc.
